The Last of Us Part II
This is probably still my highest profile project to date (ca. May 2026)
In 2018, I had gotten a recommendation to help the Sony San Diego team with a new, large, upcoming project. “Have you heard of the Last of Us?”
I actually hadn’t at the time. (I know, I know…) Little did I know it was arguably thee most beloved video game storyline of all time. At least in the PlayStation fandom.
Ultimate secrecy was required. There were very big narrative beats that needed to be understood, but in order for this to work – Not a soul outside of Naughty Dog nor Sony could know about it. What in the heck did I just wander into?
This was my first expedition into AAA video game Cinematics, and it taught me SO much about FACS face animation, high fidelity MoCap performance polish, and pushed me to be a more technical animator.
It also introduced me to a very big talented bunch of animators that I still call good friends to this day. Loved those days!
