Kubo and the Two Strings
My first feature film, the epic of “Kubo and the Two Strings” from Laika Studios, just outside Portland, OR.
Laika is a supremely cool studio to be apart of. The stop-motion studio is a source of wonder for all in the industry, and the physicality of the artform means that everywhere you look there are tactile, real-world assets, sets, lighting, and engineering to behold like a museum in motion.
After-hours walks through the massive warehouse of curtained-off stages were a favorite memory – and seeing the giant skeleton, suspended by steel braided marionette cables from the ceiling, with a skull the size of a VW Bug… That was amazing.
